Introduction to Intarsia - A Virtual Workshop - May 15th
1.5 hour virtual class taught by Arica Presinal, KnitChats
Saturday, May 15th from 11:00am to 12:30pm
Have you wanted to learn Intarsia Knitting? Follow along with teacher, designer and KnitChats Coach, Arica Presinal, as she guides you through the magic of non-stranded colorwork! Learn how to manage multiple yarn supplies, read colorwork charts, and deal efficiently with the ends in non-traditional ways. Confidently link the yarns between sections to create a flat, single layer of stockinette – controlling the colors along the way. You’ll be casting on for the Watercolor Cowl, a simple yet beautiful design that will give you a basic understanding of the Intarsia technique.
Prerequisites: Know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off
- Watercolor Cowl pattern (MDK Field Guide #16: Painterly)
- smooth, DK weight yarn in 3 or more contrasting colors (Rowan Felted Tweed)
- the appropriate needle size for your gauge (suggested size US 5-6)
Note: Students may also review the pattern on p. 17 and come to class with the full yarn range as provided in the pattern.
Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 4” in stockinette
Pre-work: Work the gauge square to determine your needle size for the project.
