What is on my fall knitting list?

As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, it is almost September, and I consider the 1st the start of the fall season. I am ready to shift from smaller projects and tees to sweaters and heavier accessories.  So, what is making my list of potential projects this season? Read on....

Smilla by Anne Ventzel - First off is a sweater I have been looking at for the last few weeks on Raverly, Smilla by Anne Ventzel. This sweater is a bit on the heavy side for California, but we sit outside for dinner a lot, and I travel to chilly Pittsburgh. The pattern is similar to the Cardi Cocoon that I knit in 2021. Knitting for Olive’s Heavy Merino and Mohair Silk makes the pattern pop.  My gauge swatch flew off the needles, and I was so anxious to start that I dried it in my oven at the warming temperature. I hope to have this project on the needles when I get home from vacation.

Angel by Britt-Marie Brehmer - We featured Angel in a newsletter last year and had Britt-Marie's sample in the shop. It was so soft and wearable, and nowI want one of my own. All I have to say is cashmere. Yes, Angel is knit with Pascuali 6/28 Cashmere and it is just yummy. This might be cast on just after Smilla.

Esther Jacket by Petite Knit - Esther looks so retro to me and I love it.  Perhaps my mom had something similar when I was growing up. I was thinking perhaps knitting in the same combination that I am knitting the Smilla in, Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino and Mohair Silk, or perhaps mYak Baby Yak medium....that would be divine!

Field Cardigan by Camilla Vad - I looked at the Field Sweater for ages, but I do love myself a cardigan. I think this sweater is both elegant and rustic.  The patterned yoke is everything for me. I am busy swatching trying to find just the right yarn for the project.  I am going between using a single strand and two yarns held togehter.  I just cannot decide....stay tuned!

I do not want to overwhelm you with too many ideas, so I might have to do a part two for next week! What projects are inspiring your fall knitting? Let me know in the comments, and I will show them off in a community blog post!

This is a a great list! We recently moved to Montana, so winter will be coming my way! I’m hoping to start a couple of sweaters: Baguette Sweater by Soumine KIM which is a bulky weight that should be extra cozy…I’m thinking it needs to be in Woolfolk’s Fleck Bulky yarn. And I am torn between the Harvest Slipover by Rhonda Yerxa (more of a vest than a sweater!) and the Whipped Leaf Sweater Type F by Etsuko Yamaguchi. Help me decide!!!

I may pick up a rather old project of mine…it’s one Jana had in the shop back in the day…A fall inspired wreath! Now that I am in my new home this season, I thought it would be fitting to create some handcrafted decor. I have a few fall leaves done, but dare I start one for Christmas, too?

Mette from Petite Knit is super active on Instagram.
The Esther Design is inspired by the Isager Archives, from the 70s.
Helga Isager invites designers from Denmark every summer for a knitcation, where they have the chance to dive into the Isager Archives to design new patterns based on Ase Lund Jensen’s designs from the seventies.

I love this honoring and evolving of the tradition so much!

I am crazy about the Field Cardigan too and have been swatching with my stash. No luck. I will be interested in what yarn you decide on, Ann. It is such a unique design.
I also love the Esther Jacket. I don’t have many cardigans so really do need two!
