Spotlight on Yarn: La Bien Aimee Merino Singles

Bonjour La Bien Aimee!  We are so pleased to have these lovely yarns in our shop. Aimee, a Kansas native, moved to Paris and opened her lovely knitting and tea shop, L’OisiveThé.  A number of years ago she started to dye her own yarns and the wonderful La Bien Aimée was born.  Makers from all over have since been in love with her soft bases and stunning colors. We are carrying three bases in the shop, Merino Singles, Merino Sport and Merino Dk. Come into the shop for a burst of color and inspiration!

This week I am sharing some pattern ideas for their fingering weight base, Merino Singles. This yarn is a 100% single-ply merino. Each hank weighs 100 grams and has 400 yards or 366 meters. It can be used for a variety of projects as it can easily be knit on a US 1½ (2.5mm)  to US 4 (3.5mm) needle.

Prenzlauer by Alma Bali: LOOK at this one!  Oh my goodness, I just spotted it while looking through Ravelry for this post. Guess what I am knitting with our Merino Singles?! Prenzlauer is filled little tuck stitches that allow the colors to blend together.  It came out in 2018, how has this pattern alluded me for so long? It just goes to show you how big Ravelry is.

Good Vibes by Nadia Cretin-Lechenne:  This pattern was created for Aimee's Parisian shop and combines garter stitch and lace in a stunning crescent shaped shawl.

Fading Point by Joji Locatelli: I love rectangular wraps and this one is breathtaking.  It is knit from both ends to the center and the pieces are connected with triangles. It sounds like a fun pattern to knit. Can you imagine some stunning fades?

Musselburgh by Ysolda Teague:  If you want a little one skein project, a simple hat is the way to go. Yes, Musselburgh is a hat, but it is an interesting hat to knit because it is knit in a tube from end to end! What a way to let the yarn sing!

Free Your Fade by Andrea Mowry: The selection of yarns dyed for us is just what you need for a fade. The shawl is light-weight, perfect for California, and easy to knit. You can follow the pattern and pick 3 shades to fade or use your imagination and select more if you would like a larger shawl.

Confetti by Veera Välimäki: This sweater has been in my queue for a while. I love how the solid color stripe tones down the speckled skeins. This sweater has a fitted yoke and sleeves but an a-line body, making it very flattering for all body types.

Choose one of our ideas or come in with a pattern of your own.  If you love color, you will not be disappointed you made the trip.
